The Mediterranean diet — already known for
its heart-health benefits — may make you live longer. I’m Erin White with your latest
health news. A new study found that people who stuck with
the Mediterranean diet had longer telomeres — a known marker of aging–which might be
linked to increased longevity. Telomeres are structures at the end of chromosomes that
get shorter with age. The Mediterranean diet encourages eating lots of fruits, vegetables,
whole grains, beans, nuts and olive oil. Speak with a doctor about the right diet for
you and your health.
