Your sugar can be put into the compost pile. Rice, oats, bread I fed to birds and ducks. Yes, you have hear passersby say "ya know bread isn't good for ducks" "ya know rice will swell in their stomach and they'll blow up". Yes, bread isn't great for ducks, isn't great for humans either. But it's not like bread is all the duck will eat their entire life…like most humans do. And rice causing birds to blowup…come on. Don't argue, just ignore,

What about fruits? Thinking that I am going to have to go on this diet as I think I have hashimotos (waiting to see an endocrinologist). If I'm honest, I find it quite scary (mostly because I have a huge overhaul to do). I dont eat that much junk, but rice, and fruit and corn are big in my current food list…

Hi, i understand that you might not have the time to answer this question- but I dont have anyone else to ask since most of the dr’s in sweden say there is no such thing as insulin resistance or any way to see if you are IR.. I have PCOS and dr’s refuse to prescribe metformin, and I can only manage the symptoms and blood glucose with keto and carnivore, but I have noticed my blood sugar being higher than usual after eating, and not dropping to my normal fasted blood sugar- is that a sign of insufficient insulin production or something else?

hello doctor Barry you were asking another video about who I'd like to see you collaborate with and that would be at b biologist Bruce Lipton I think that that would be a very interesting talk because he uses EPI biology the way you talk about ketos dieting. I'M SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION BECAUSE I HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY AND THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO FIX TWO OF THE THREE INLET VALVES. I HAVE STILL BEEN EXPERIENCING SHORTNESS OF BREATH AND CHEST PAIN ESPECIALLY DURING SEXUAL ACTIVITY AS I AM MULTI-ORGASMIC ALTHOUGH I AM 66 I HAVE A LOVER WHO IS 36 AND WE ARE ANIMATED IF YOU GET MY MEANING SO I'M LOOKING FOR HELP ON YOUTUBE AND THAT'S HOW I FOUND YOU AND I'M HOPING I CAN IMPLEMENT YOUR KETO DIET TO IMPROVE MY HEART HEALTH EVEN AFTER MY SURGERY THANK YOU SO MUCH MARIA HOFFMAN 707 298 4270 IN THE EVENT YOU MIGHT WANT TO CALL ME WITH INFORMATION THANK YOU AND THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU

I think this is a great idea. But I have question about rice since you recommend removing it from the diet because it causes inflammation that can lead to health problems. We are told those in Asia eats lots of rice, but have very little heart disease and diabetes. Is that not really the case, or is something else going on? Thanks for all of your videos and information!

I know this is about Keto, but is it ok to eat some starchy carbs after a workout, such as sweet potato or butternut squash, if you do heavy lifting?

  8. Sheryl Johnson

A friend sent me the link to this video – this is the one that convinced me to try Keto. I have never been interested in a "diet" that involved pills, potions or powders as a requisite to being successful. So I did all this one week ago. I thought I was lactose intolerant. As it turns out, I am NOT! It was all the grains that were causing me so much distress! I am so happy because I LOVE cheese!

  9. NowI'mMe

Dr. Berry, I'm on Social Security Disability and tried to do Keto but it's really expensive! I live in Tacoma, WA and it's hella expensive out here. I need to do a "Really Poor Person" Keto diet. Any ideas?

  10. João Viegas

Hi Mr. Ken, interested young man right here. Could you please share the evidence of studies to backup your claims? I salute your effort to help your fellow man 🙂

  11. Malabanias

Oh man. That was close. I thought for sure that he was going to tell me to get rid of potatoes. The other stuff I can do without. I am so glad that I can still eat my fried taters.

  12. Leslie Bates

Oh my ….my kitchen would be EMPTY. Hoprfully going to be switching to this with my 14 year old son. Fingers crossed.thanks for all your videos.

  13. Wayfarer Nomad Land and Sea

Thank you! In my heart I knew this but I deceive myself thinking sugar is ok. I love this information! Thanks for the confirmation!

have been low carb with mostly keto recipes have lost 80lbs since last Oct. (yay!), & now i still so have sooo far to go that my happiness with the 80 loss is going away & the discouragement with the remaining 76 is kicking in. i know slower has better chance of staying gone, i just want the rest of the weight gone & hate that it's taking me this long. i'm over 40 & i do know over 40 my metabolism is now f'ed & it's going to take longer. just blue about it. okay, blue gripe over.

Thank you for cutting through all the bs. With all of the ridiculous things available now for people who are starting keto and think they need really expensive ‘special’ things to do it right, you’ve just made it clear that you just have to cut out what needs cutting out and follow the basic rules.

  16. Ellen Schram

Can I use sugar-free jello? I have been on the Medifast diet, it, I’m an extremely slow loser. I lost 65 lbs on Akins, but, gained plus! I need to lose another 43 lbs, RIGHT NOW! Thanks for this, it’s just what I need!

  17. Teresa Davis

I use canola oil all the time and I eat most all the things you say to not eat 😒 maybe I should ween myself off of these things instead of going cold turkey.

  18. Hello Later

How do u feel about organic apples: Gala, Fuji et al?
I only eat ribeye that says hormones/antibiotics free(as much as they can do). If it says 'vegan fed'?? Angus is the brand. Expensive.
    Ty.

I am obese and over 50 yrs of age and really need to get going with keto. Thank you for your advise and I am going to start by removing all sugars and grains from my diet. Any advise about electrolytes?

  20. **DiamondLace Couture** !Ms McClain!

My son was put on a keto diet at 1 for seizures until he was 7 but was supposed to come off at 5… unfortunately he was on a formula since he had a g-tube so I never got to learn the real diet… but he had no seizures at all the whole 6 years … within a year on a high protein but still sugar formula he started having seizures… they said he could not stay on … but he he is now 20 and had horrible seizures and I feed him blended food … I find that ironic that he had no seizures at all not only that but he never had secretions either that had to be suction… so I just found out I have fatty liver … I think me and him are going on Keto together..my problem is I’m big he is super skinny can you gain weight from keto?

Had a question Dr. Berry. What are your thoughts on table salt? I think table salt is bad too because there is no nutritional value in it due to bleaching. Plus previous labels of tablet salt had dextrose in it. Believe or not.

  22. D Monroe

I’m taking the plunge. I’ve weaned most sugar this week, only grass fed butter and no grains. I have a little bit of a headache and back pain the last 2 days but it is getting better. I thank God I’m hard headed therefore I will continue. (I’m thinking of all the carbs and sugar like a bossy husband and it helps me fight the cravings! haha). Thank you Dr. Berry.

  23. Keto Beach

Anyone can start a keto diet, the key is maintaining the lifestyle. Over 80% of people who start a ketogenic diet drop off after the first six months. I tackle the debate as to whether or not it's a temporary fix or a lifetime commitment. AND, more importantly how to stick with it.

  24. Banana Phone

Hey, due to how cheap they are, all those bad oils are great for starting bonfires. Pour a bottle of it over some flammable materials like wood and a little on some cardboard. Light the cardboard and put it under some wood that's soaked in the oil and it will light right up usually.

  25. Sugra Sabri

    Dr Berry
I have hypothyroidism, hashimotos also in my late 40s. I have always been active and started exercising in my teens. Over the last 4 yrs I have found I am unable to lose weight. Infact in the last yr I have put on a whole stone. I try to eat healthy but because I cook and buy for rest of the so called family (whom I get nothing but stress from) I end up eating biscuits and wheat products. I hate how ill I feeel and I hate the weight I have put on. Could you please advise me what to do?

  26. Kat

I understand but how is it possible to feed little children keto wise I have 6 children and it’s super very hard sometimes I make veggies as sides and sometimes I feel very overwhelming that I make wheat corn n rice ughhhh someone help please

  27. Joy Peters

Hi! How about maple and dates? Talking about grains. Are wild, brown and red rice not good for the body if you’re trying to get rid of fatty liver?

  28. Earthraven

I'm starting Keto today, thanks to your videos. I have watched a lot of the "Guru's ", but they over complicate the process. You make it simple. Thank you for that. I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. On to many medications, I hate it. Ive tried the big Pharma route. Csnt wait to see the look on the pill pushing doctors face when I tell her I'm trying something differant. Either she will help on the journey or I'll find one who will.

  29. SteelCity1981

If people ate things that you said not to eat in limited moderation aka once in a blue moon, then it wouldn't be a problem. The problem is most people can't moderate themselves and that's where the problem lies and this is why soo many people develop diabetes, high cholesterol, kidney disease etc..

I started keto 11 days ago and I have stopped eating sugars and carbs, but when I test my urine for ketosis it is always negative. What am I doing wrong?

  31. Cis White Dad

Over the summer my wife was eating keto, so I started playing with it. Bacon and eggs for breakfast, little Debbie treats and french fries at lunch.
Then I got my bloodwork back: pre diabetes. I stopped playing and got serious that day. Been keto ever since, and I think part of my success is that I took it slow and played around with it to start, so when it was time to get serious, it was quite easy.

  32. James McKee

Get rid of WHEAT!, SUGAR!, CORN!, OATS!, RICE! I've been trying for years to do this by following the Diet by Blood Type.
All the foods I find are cross pollinated with all these ingredients!
What's left? Veggies, Dairy, Beef, Chicken, Fish, & Fruits, well fruits are out because of sugars!
I've been juicing my fruits & veggies now, I must stop?
I use olive oil, coconut oil….
Ok get rid of these so what's left?
I'll continue to eat what is not good for me and die happy.
Eating healthier will cause me to go through De-Toxic Shock!
    Lame!

What do I do about my stomach bloating after dinner, it is very uncomfortable. It feels like my stomach is going to explode and I'm not eating much at all.

  34. Charlie Ward

only thing i worry about is my metabolism is already through the roof, i eat everything and anything i want and loads of it, but am built and have a 6 pack, i do have a very physical job as a mechanic and physical hobbies so im not sure i need to burn more fat and raise my metabolism, i would like to stop the sugar crashes and help my joints but thats about it, seems i could just lower carbs and not actually go into ketosis, take some joint supplements and i would be good or is that all just besides the point?

  35. Robin Ludlow

I will try but when I do high protein my blood sugar drops and I get really shaky if I eat just eggs or chicken, is that a normal reaction?

  36. Hercule Holmes

Wait a second; maybe our ancestors of 100K years ago didn't eat grains, but humans have been eating them for at least 5K years, and evolution contrary to popular myth is not necessarily a slow process, evolutionary adaptation can occur in just a few generations. Is there any proof that we are not adapted to eat grains?

Also, just taking a walk along my local canal, I see wheat and barley and other edible grasses growing wild, and it occurs to me that even a caveman would have simply reached out his hands and stripped off handfuls of seeds and maybe crushed them with a stone into a simple flour. Modern fruits are obviously unusually large and sweet, but what about berries? In the UK berries grow everywhere during Summer and Autumn and I cannot imagine that our caveman ancestors would not have gorged themselves on berries, and also nuts later in the year.

Hopefully you will get this comment soon. I drive a big truck cross country and sometimes in a regional area. What can I possibly eat out here to get the weight off so I can stop taking this dreadful Metformin? Please help.
